What is AdChoices?

As mention on the Google Adsense blog, AdChoices notifications were developed by the online advertising industry’s Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising to more proactively give users notice and choice about the ads they see. With the change from our “i” icon and “Ads by Google” label to these new notifications, we hope to show our support for this cross-industry initiative, and to increase our users’ understanding about ad choices through adoption of an icon they’ll see on ads across the web. Checkout “AdChoices” label in below image which served by Google ads.

According to Yahoo AdChoices

The Web sites you visit work with online advertising companies to provide you with advertising that is as relevant and useful as possible. Some of the online ads you are served may be based on the content of the Web page you’re visiting; some others may be based on registration information you provide; and other ads may be customized based on predictions about your interests generated from your visits to other Web sites.

All advertising seeks to target the right products to the right audience, and makes possible low-cost or no-cost content and services. Most online ads aren’t matched to you as an individual, but to data categories — such as demographics, interest groups, location, or online behavior. The Web sites you visit work with online advertising companies to provide you with advertising that is as relevant and useful as possible.

So with the help of AdChoices you can manage what type of ads you like to see and what you don’t want. You will find a list of companies participating in the Self Regulatory Program.
